Effect of combined aerobic exercises on the physical health of the elderly without exercise comprehensive review

Abstract

Background and goal:

Combined aerobic exercise refers to a type of exercise that includes a mix of different aerobic activities, such as running, cycling, swimming, or dancing. This type of exercise helps to improve cardiovascular fitness, increase endurance, and burn calories. Therefore, the aim of the present study was the effect of combined aerobic exercises on the physical health of the elderly without exercise.

Method:

To search for articles, English-language articles from 2018 to 2024 were collected through search databases including Scopus, PubMed, Mdpi, Google Scholar, WOS, and Science Direct. Keywords such as combined exercises, aerobic exercises, physical health and elderly were used to extract articles.

Findings:

The findings show that combined aerobic exercises in the elderly can improve cognitive disorders, dementia, and in middle-aged and elderly people with type 2 diabetes, exercise improves cognition, metabolic health, and physical performance. In addition, various forms of exercise, from Aerobic and resistance exercises can improve physical performance, strength, balance, mobility, and flexibility in the elderly as well as people with sarcopenia, and cognitive training can improve depression symptoms and short-term memory.

Conclusion:

The results have shown that aerobic exercise improves cardiovascular health, muscle strength and mobility in the elderly.
