Abstract

Calcification in the brain seen on X-ray cranial films is caused by different types of inflammatory and degenerative diseases. Occasionally, calcification is found bilaterally and symmetrically in the basal ganglia, dentate nuclei, and sulci. This particular type of pathological calcification has been called cerebral calcinosis, basal ganglia calcification, and Fahr's disease. Often caused by defective parathyroid function
