Antihypertensive therapy and the course of established cerebrovascular disease

Abstract

It is generally accepted that the treatment of moderate and severe hypertension in young and middle-aged people can prevent some complications of hypertension, especially stroke, but some people are reluctant to give it to patients with established cerebrovascular diseases Long-term antihypertensive treatment, in view of the different opinions on this issue, the author observed the vascular complications, especially the incidence of stroke, in 162 hypertensive patients after the onset of cerebrovascular disease. Among the 162 cases, 36 cases had received different courses of antihypertensive treatment before the onset of cerebrovascular disease, and the remaining 126 cases started treatment for hypertension when they were hospitalized. The patients were all followed up in the outpatient clinic. According to the blood pressure control, they were graded as follows: well controlled: the average standing diastolic blood pressure was less than 100 mm.
