Smeraldi et al. first studied the relationship between Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-B7 antigen, and then conducted mixed lymphocyte culture (MLC) on 15 unrelated cases of the same syndrome. In 1980, Fichsel et al. found that the incidence of A1 and B8 antigens was higher in 3Hz spike-slow complex epilepsy absence seizures. Eeg-Olofsson et al. detected the HLA-A and HLA-B haplotypes of 53 children and their families.
