Mental Symptoms of Cerebral Aneurysm Before and After Operation and Follow-up Observation

The author conducted preoperative, postoperative and follow-up psychiatric observations on 102 patients with cerebral aneurysms in the neurosurgery department of a university from October 1967 to March 1972. The author divided the mental symptoms into four categories: the first category, 12 cases of transient disturbance of consciousness and persistent disturbance of consciousness, seen before surgery; 3 cases of akinetic mutism, seen after surgery. The second category, neurasthenia-like state and emotional disorder, was seen in 12 cases before operation and 7 cases after operation. A case of hallucinatory delusional state, seen before operation. The third category, forgetfulness, Korsakov syndrome, personality changes, can be seen before operation (28 cases) and after operation (35 cases)
