Abstract

The brain is highly sensitive to various stimuli during development, and many diseases in childhood can easily cause convulsions. Febrile convulsions in children are age-related and are often the precursor to grand mal epilepsy. In this article, a follow-up study of more than 1,000 children was carried out from their prenatal period, and the significance of some cases of febrile convulsions for the subsequent development of epilepsy is discussed. The author examined 1,075 of 2,005 children born to 2,014 pregnant women in Nagoya in 1964 when they were 3 years old, and 108 of them were diagnosed as having febrile convulsions. The author has conducted clinical and clinical examinations on this group of positive cases and their parents every year
