Comparison Of Brain Gym And Stretching In Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Having Short Sleep Duration: A Randomised Clinical Trial

Background: Sleep disorders and poor sleep habits are extremely common in adults with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Stretching exercises have shown to improve sleep quality and duration. Brain Gym exercises is a set of exercises which aids in managing sleep by providing mind and body relaxation. The present study aims to compare the effect of Brain Gym exercises and Stretching Exercises in Individuals with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus having Short Sleep Duration using Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index.
Methods: 36 participants were randomly allocated to either Group A or Group B. Group A received Stretching exercises and Group B received Brain Gym exercises. Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index and SF-12 scores were obtained pre and post intervention.
Result: In the conducted study, the results indicated noteworthy improvements within both, the Brain Gym group and the stretching group, but there was no significant difference in the level of improvement achieved between the groups.
Conclusion: The outcome of this study proposes that both the exercises exhibit notable improvement in sleep duration of the individuals.
