Abstract

Narcolepsy, cataplexy, sleep paralysis, and hypnagogic hallucinations constitute the four major symptoms of narcolepsy. Dement and Klertman (1957) reported that nocturnal sleep is composed of dreaming, physical activity, and characteristic rapid eye movement (REM). It is composed of "non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep" or "slow wave sleep" alternately. Later, it was discovered that narcolepsy patients often have disturbances in their circadian sleep cycles
