This article studied 20 patients with basilar artery occlusion (BAO) who underwent angiography from 1969 to 1973. Based on the data at the time of onset, long-term follow-up data and angiographic findings, the relationship between clinical outcome and BAO location and collateral circulation type was explored. The methods and results are summarized as follows: The angiography systems used brachial angiography, aortic arch arteriography and carotid angiography. Among the 20 BAO patients: half were men and women; the age range was 43 to 78 years old. 15 cases of hypertension. There were 2 cases of rheumatic heart disease with normal blood pressure and 2 cases of diabetes. None of the patients had a history of vertebrobasilar artery disease. However, 3 cases had a history of stroke, which may be due to carotid artery system disease. According to the patient's state of consciousness during angiography, the patients are divided into the following categories
